The three shows I saw in the last three days:
- Electric President [Sat]
- Susan Werner [Sun]
- Jenny Lewis and the Watson Twins [Mon]
- Steamed and Cracked Crab at Nick's Lighthouse at Fisherman's Wharf [Sat]
- Chinese Roast Crab at the Golden Wok in San Mateo [Sun]
- Soft-shelled Crab at Tanpopo in Japantown [Mon]
- Rainbow Roll at Ai (heart) Sushi [Fri]
- Linguica at Top Dog in Berkeley [Sun]
- Won ton noodles at the Prince Cafe [Mon]
Burmese food leftovers for lunch (eggplant and chicken, there wasn't enough rice, so I made noodles to go along with it.) No dinner yet. It's only 7.17! Only one group of kids have come by so far. They better hurry up! I'm probably going out to eat around 8.00.
Wonder no more! (Hey, that's almost a pun.) Steve is going to tour with Sufjan Stevens in his band.
And it seems like I'm settling on Google's Picassaweb as my putting-pictures-on-the-interenet site. I guess it's mostly coz I'm lazy and Picasssaweb has an iPhoto plugin so I can bulk upload. Or I might get off my lazy ass and install Gallery2. Although php + mysql? Seems like more than is necessary for a photo app.
I went to see Laura Veirs and the Saltbreakers (the 'Saltbreakers' thing is new -- it used to be 'Laura Veirs and the Tortured Souls', but they're changing it for the new album.) Anyhow the show was great. This is Laura:
So 'saltbreaker' means wave, which makes sense since most waves are of saltwater (there's precious few bodies of freshwater large enough to accomodate wave formation.) It's also the name of a song on Veirs' upcoming album.
Apparently after recording the new Laura Veirs album, Moore is going to Europe to tour with Sufjan Stevens (I don't know if he's play with Sufjan Stevens or playing in a band that's supporting him.) I might be a little jealous if my own life weren't so fantabulous.
No. Okay. I'm a little jealous.
So I did get one -- a Canon SD20. I like the fixed-ness of it, but the lens doesn't seem like f/2.8. Or maybe f/2.8 isn't really all that fast. Anyhow I'm trying to take all of my pictures without a flash because flashes suck (at least on these sorts of point-and-shooty cameras.) Now my complaint is about iPhoto. I wonder if there's a better photo management tool out there for the Mac. Picassaweb, I guess. Flickr.
So it might be time to get another digital camera. I was chatting with Lisa about it tonight and she thought that it's one of those things that one might think one might not use, but one really does.
I've mentioned it before -- I used to have a digital camera, back in the day. It was a what? A Nikon Coolpix 900 (1 megapixel) that cost way too much and I didn't use it all that much anyhow. So I've been looking around different web sites tonight. I still think the Canon SD20/SD10 (pretty fast f/2.8 fixed lens, small. I like fixed lenses because I think they're sharper than zooms; on the other hand, I hardly think it matters with these tiny little sensors they put in these cameras.) If money were no object, I might go for something like the Epson R-D1 (digital rangefinder!) or Leica Digilux 2. The Sony/Ericsson K790a or 800i look good too, if I wanted to get a phone/camera combo.
But money still is an object for me.
So what's in queue for today? Or is that enqueued?
- watch a little World Cup (my god, there's some beautiful soccer being played right now in the Holland vs. Serbia/Montegro game)
- maybe look for a Nintendo DS Lite (Fry's? Gamestop? Unfortunately there's no video game stores out here in the Richmond. It's like the sticks! But with really awesome asian food.)
- go down to see the folks
Gosh I'd like to get on my bike again, my right knee feels a little tweeky again. I wonder if I should move from livejournal out here to vox. I guess it doesn't really matter. I'd be nice if I could cross-post to the two blogs. It's all six-apart, ya?
So 'Back to the Future' is on the tv. I'd like to it here ---> except that when I click on 'movies' it hangs for a while. I guess it's loading something slow and I'm too impatient. Anyhow, the older brother looks like a tall John McEnroe to me. But my question is this: why would anyone ever set their alarm clock to 10.28?
I'll try one more time.
Oh! I get it. I don't need to hit return twice for a paragraph-break. I wonder if that's a setting that can be changed....
Huey Lewis and the Developmentally Disabled, I liked this article when it came out last year. I still do. I can't see of 'Back to the Future' without thinking of it. It's sweet, without being saccharine and it treats the developmentally disabled ('retards') with respect. As adults with their own wants and needs, not just as large, stupid children.
Whee!
An adult.
Isn't that such a sad and boring answer?
