Meatloaf sandwich 'wichcraft for lunch. I Cristina, Gen, Bryan, and Kevin. I actually started at the food court at the Westfield Mall, but didn't see anything that struck my fancy then. The meatloaf sandwich was all right. Kinda pricey. Dinner with Lisa at La Burrita, then Top Dog. La Burrita's carne asada burrito was better than I remember, although they still have no pork (carnitas or pastor) option!
Yesterday I had a couple of oranges from St. Anthony's for lunch. I'd gone down there with Shilpa, Ben, and Jeff (and Matt, but Matt's always there, so that's kinda cheating.) Also a samosa from this random Indian/Pakistani grocery on Market (around Mason or so.) It was pretty good. Not fantastic, but pretty good. Drink and dinner with, well, everyone for Bryan's un-birthday at the Thirsty Bear.
Midnight grocery shopping at the IGA Delano with Michael. I had to get some bread flour (for baking) and sugar (for, well, baking, too.) But while I was there, I saw a nice little leg of lamb for sale. I picked it up. Of course. It's cooking now with a little mustard/pepper rub (which I hope doesn't burn and becomes something of a crust.) We'll see how it turns out. It smells good at least.
I gotta say, this remote meat thermometer that Edith and Jeff got me is working wonderfully well.
Pork burrito from El Faro with Chris and Jeremy for lunch. It was very good -- I'm rating it three stars, above average. It is now my favorite burrito South of Market. The pork is carnitas, but it looks like they dumbed-down the menu for the downtown crowd. For example, they took pupusas off the menu completely! Fried chicken from KFC for dinner. Oh man, I loves my KFC.
A sadly mediocre sandwich for lunch from the Ambrocia Cafe yesterday. Too bad, because the Ambrosia Cafe people are just really, really sweet. Again I had tried to go to the International Food Court, but they were closed again! I went down there (Trinity Alley) with Dayo and Sean. Eggplant, garlic, and sriracha pizza for dinner. I was unsure about eggplant as a topping, especially since it was already cooked, but it turned out really well. I was worried about the moisture and mushiness of the eggplant, but the moisture wasn't a problem (although darn it, I still wish my oven got a little hotter so I could get a better crisp on the bottom of the crust) and the mushiness wasn't any different than if I put on fresh tomatoes or something.
So I'd say three hits over the last two days.
