The Vietnamese place on Fifth and Howard with Mimi for lunch.  I had the bamboo shoots and duck noodle soup.  It sounds really good, but it was pretty bland.  Too bad.  I've liked everything else I've tried there, though, so I'm sure to go back.  Fresh noodles (60% water, 3% sesame oil, 3% salt, 2% baking soda), curry bison, and broccoli at home for dinner.  The noodles were very good, but the curry bison didn't turn out as well as I like.  I mean the curry taste was fine, but I didn't like the texture of the ground bison in this context.  I should probably have sliced up a steak.  Oh well.  Now I know.

Breakfast burrito from El Faro for lunch.  It was just sort of average, not as good as the breakfast burrito from Love's.  It was chorizo, eggs, ham, and beans which sounds like it could be nothing but a home run.  Ribs at home for dinner.  I thought they turned out okay, but it'd be nice to get someone else's opinion some time.

The first two pictures are from yesterday's food -- the curry chicken pho, and the gai choi (芥菜, Chinese mustard greens) soup.

Curry chicken and rice soup from John Campbell's Irish Bakery on Geary for lunch.  I actually got it last Friday, but had other lunch plans, so it sat in the office fridge over the weekend.  Oh, it's pretty good -- like Irish gumbo!  I would have liked a little more rice, which I think would have given it a little better balance.

Amici pizza at the office for dinner.  It was so-so -- a little burnt.  I came home and made my own cheese pizza (pictured) which I liked better.

Sri Lankan coconut pork curry from Mehfil for lunch with Jeremy and Emily.  It was pretty good.  I'll call it a 3/5 (above average.)  It wasn't hot-spicy, but had a good, creamy, rich curry flavor.  The pork was really soft and tender.  The last time I went to Mehfil to try this (when I went with Dayo), they had run out.  I'm glad I went back again.

Because it's Sri Lankan, I thought about Jocey and Hannah and Hini!

Dinner at Lee Hou on Clement with Mom and Dad.  No pictures, but we got the $19.95 fixed menu (soup, chicken, pork, tofu and bok choy) which was more than enough food for us three.  Dumpling soup with Marvin at Brother's for a second dinner.  Heh.  I thought I couldn't eat any more after Lee Hou.  I was wrong.  I wanted to try the dumplings, after having my own wonton a couple of times this week, and having made dumplings with Marvin last weekend.  The Korean dumplings were all right.  A good taste, but the fillings kind of broke apart in the soup.  Again, I think they were missing some kind of binding agent (whatever that may be!)

A pretty good curry beef stew noodle soup at Sai's with Seth for lunch.  The beef was excellent, the noodles were good, the veggies were nice and tender, but the broth didn't have the pop I was looking for.  It was a little bland, so was a little disappointing.  The curry beef noodles at the pho place in the International Food Court has a better broth, but no as good beef.  No picture.  I left my camera in the office.  Too bad, because it was a really pretty bowl.

Leftover Peking Noodles and a pizza for dinner at home.  The pizza was spam and ham, which sounds like it would be excellent, but it really wasn't.  Again, I love my crust, but the spam was simply unworthy of it.  Now I like spam, but in this context, it just tasted like a mediocre frozen pizza topping.  Well, it was worth a shot, but it's probably an experiment I don't need to try again.
