I went to see Laura Veirs and the Saltbreakers (the 'Saltbreakers' thing is new -- it used to be 'Laura Veirs and the Tortured Souls', but they're changing it for the new album.) Anyhow the show was great. This is Laura:
She is small. Not midget-small or anything, but smaller than I expected. By which I mean that I am taller than her. Maybe that's not as unusual as I think, because I usually see these people up on stage instead of on the ground like us normal people.
So 'saltbreaker' means wave, which makes sense since most waves are of saltwater (there's precious few bodies of freshwater large enough to accomodate wave formation.) It's also the name of a song on Veirs' upcoming album.

This (on the right) is Steve Moore. He's Veirs' keyboardist. He also used to work with Jon at Excite up in Seattle. I don't think either of them knew Feaver, but who knows. It's a small, small world, isn't it? Moore had an open laptop under his keyboard (a macbook something, I think), but I don't think he ever touched or even looked at it.
Apparently after recording the new Laura Veirs album, Moore is going to Europe to tour with Sufjan Stevens (I don't know if he's play with Sufjan Stevens or playing in a band that's supporting him.) I might be a little jealous if my own life weren't so fantabulous.
