Lunch from Mehfil -- a pork...

Lunch from Mehfil -- a pork/veggie combo plate. I thought Mehfil was particularly delicious today. I really could have used a little more rice, though. Maybe I should, by policy, always keep a little thing of rice in the fridge at work. That way if I ever need a little more rice it's there. Pepperocini pizza for dinner. I tried using the screen again, and again it didn't work out that well. The bottom just doesn't get as crisp as when I cook on the stone, and it sticks to the screen. Both problems might have to do with how thin I like to spin out the dough. Maybe it's so thin that the sauce soaks through the dough, which causes it to cook slower and stick.

Special bonus food pic: last night's ribs. Mmmm.

Khopra murga (chicken in a coconut curry) from Mehfil with Abhishek for lunch (Ashutosh came along, but got Subway instead.) With extra rice! But only because I had brought it to work last week and needed to finish it. Pizza at work for dinner. The sun-dried tomato and artichoke hearts pizza is a pretty good combination.

Pannini from Enzo's for lunch (ham). I went down there with three of the interns, Abhishek, Ashutosh, and Piotr, although only Piotr got something at Enzo's, too. My primary goal of going to that area was to see if the International Food Court was open yet. It wasn't. Now the sign says something like 'On Vacation, Be Back Soon'. I hope it's true, but I'm not holding my breath. Pepperoni and green onion pizza for dinner. Good combo, but I still have the problem with the cheese. My new culprit is the sauce. I'm wondering now if I have too much olive oil. Well next batch I'll cut back and see if that helps.

A so-so (below average) pork...

A so-so (below average) pork burrito from the Pasilla Mexican Grill on Kearny and Pine. Actually the other people I went with liked what they got, so maybe it's specifically the pork that's not that good. It was dry and oddly sweet. Structurally the burrito wasn't put together very well, either. It broke apart in the foil and leaked sour cream and salsa all over the bag. Chicken, pepperoni, and pepperocini pizza at midnight for dinner.

Garlic/sage sausage pizza for dinner...

A very good pulled pork sandwich for lunch from Taylor's in the Ferry Building. No picture. I went down with Dayo, but didn't think to bring my camera. Anyhow the sauce was very good. A little bite with the heat and the acid (vinegar.) The cole slaw was okay. Not great, but it complemented the pork well. I also had a peanut butter and chololate milk shake which was just okay. Nothing special. The chocolate ice cream they used was average.

The last of Edith's garlic/sage sausage pizza for dinner. This turned out really well. I used a three-cheese blend of mozzarella, parmesan, and gruyere. I like the gruyere a lot better than the sharp cheddar I was using before. But I still had the problem where the cheese turns into a gooey mess. What to do, what to do?

Extremely hot (spicy) jambalaya...

Extremely hot (spicy) jambalaya from Neeto's for lunch yesterday. It was pretty good, but, frankly, too hot for me. I'll have to give their gumbo a taste to see how it is. The Neeto's menu has a lot of Creole dishes (gumbo, jambalaya, blacked this and that.) Spam, eggs, and rice for dinner. I wanted to get a nice easy over egg, but the yolk broke when I cracked the shell, so it just turned into a fried egg. Spam, eggs, and rice. Very Hawaiian!

Today I had the spicy Szechuan noodle soup from the B&M chinese place on Second. Ice cream and pizza (pepperoni and pepperoncini) for dinner. The pizza was okay. I tried lowering the temperature from 550 to 450 to preserve the cheese, but that didn't work. Maybe it's my blend. Maybe the cheddar is just a bad choice. The ice cream was just okay, too. I added chocolate chips into the ice cream maker in the last five minutes or to make a vanilla chocolate chip, but really the choclate chips just freeze and get extremely hard. So the flavor is good, but the texture is bad. Back to the drawing board.

Sausages and a hot dog...

Sausages and a hot dog from the Golden Gate Meat Company. Lamb and pepperoni pizza for a late (midnight) dinner. The lamb was excellent in pizza. Again, the main problem was that the cheese blew up into a gooey mess. I need to solve that problem.

Dinner with Michael at the...

Dinner with Michael at the Happy Garden. From left to right it's sole in black bean sauce, lamb clay pot, and salt and pepper scallops. I liked the sole and the scallops, but I was a little disappointed by the lamb. There wasn't a lot of flavor to the dish. A BLT from the Boxed Foods Company for lunch (no picture.) I went down there with Jeremy, who had a buy one, get one free coupon, so it was effectively half-off. It was a pretty solid BLT, if a little chichi.

Yesterday I had tofu curry ramen with Dayo for lunch, another green onion and parsley pizza for dinner. I'm really not that happy with what happens to the cheese. It just seems to bust apart and melt into a big, gooey mess. I'd like the cheese to hold up better. Maybe that's an argument for cooking the pizza longer in a cooler (cooler than 550 at least) oven.

Crawfish, corn, and sausage at a crab boil out at Crissey Field with Shilpa, Troy, Ai, and Zak and Jonathan. Chicken curry noodle soup with leftover chicken and leftover broccoli and cauliflower at home for dinner. Parsley and green onion pizza for a midnight snack. Ya, no meat coz I didn't have anything at home. The thing is, parsley and green onion is a pretty good combo! Three-cheese blend of mozzarella, sharp white cheddar, and parmesan.
